Eagle™ lenses
Eagle Lens Description
Our most popular compensated lens, the Eagle has a clear-above-the-180 distance field of view. Many patients find this preferable, as distance viewing is often the most demanding task of a progressive lens.
- Primary Pair
- This lens is suited for being a primary pair. This means that it can be used as the only pair of glasses that a patient wears. It offers sufficient near, intermediate, and distance vision to allow for the majority of day-to-day tasks.
- Compensated
- This lens is compensated. This means that the Rx read through a lensometer will be different to that which was prescribed. The lens has been enhanced to ensure that the Rx is correct when the patient is looking out of the lens.
Eagle Apprentice Lens Description
This lens is designed for first-time progressive wearers with a low add. This lens is intended to make it easy for them to adapt to progressives. It does not offer the wide, clear viewing zones you get from the traditional Eagle lens, but it is a smoother transition, which can be key for new PAL wearers.

- Second Pair
- This lens is NOT suited for being a primary pair. This means that it is suited for use when only doing a specific task or set of tasks. This often means that it has been optimized for two fields of vision, while the third is minimal or non-existent in the lens. An example of this would be a computer lens with no distance viewing, or a driving lens with very minimal reading area. These are recommended as second-pair only.
- Non-Compensated
- This lens is NOT compensated. This means that the lens is surfaced using the traditional method of having a single optical center.

Independence ® AR Coating
Independence ® AR Coatings
Independence® Anti-Reflective Coating
- Superior Scratch Resistance
- Our own in-house special thermal dip coating is applied to this lens to give it a superior scratch coating. This leads to not only enhanced scratch resistance, but also eliminates AR crazing and cracking, which can be found on traditionally spin-coated lenses. This coating is so effective at preventing scratches that we offer free samples of steel wool for you to try and scratch them with.
- Hydrophobic
- Hydrophobic is a water-repellant coating. This causes water to bead up on the surface of the lens, and makes it easier to clean.
- Oleophobic
- Oleophobic is an oil-repellant coating. This helps the lens resist finger prints and smudges, and makes them easier to clean off.
- Anti-Static
- Static attracts dust and dirt to the lens. Anti-static coating helps eliminate static charge, which is often built up when wiping and cleaning lenses.
- UV Protection
- In the past we offered Independence® AR with and without UV protection, however in recent months this has changed. Now when you order Independence® AR on your lenses you get the added benefits of UV protection at no additional cost.
- Warranty
- Independence® AR comes with a warranty for the lifetime of the Rx. This warranty allows for the replacement of the lenses up to three times during the lifetime of the Rx and covers issues such as unlikely scratches and crazing.
- Reflex Colors Available
- Reflex color is the residual color that is seen in the finished AR lens. - Blue, Green and Gold -
Independence® Tech Anti-Reflective Coating
Independence® Tech is the newest offering in the FEA Independence ® AR line. In addition to offering all the benefits found in our Independence ® AR coatings, Independence ® Tech provides the added benefits of blue-light attenuation. This coating is ideal for those who not only want to eliminate reflections from light but who also want to protect their eyes from the harmful blue light emitted by modern technology.
- Superior Scratch Resistance
- Independence® Tech offers the same level of scratch resistance as other entries in our Independence ® AR line, meaning that it can, and will, resist scratches even from steel wool
- Hydrophobic
- Independence® Tech is hydrophobic meaning it is a water-repellant coating. This causes water to bead up on the surface of the lens, and makes it easier to clean.
- Oleophobic
- Not only is it hydrophobic but its also oleophobic meaning is is also an oil-repellant coating. This helps the lens resist finger prints and smudges, and makes them easier to clean off.
- Anti-Static
- In addition it is Anti-static as well. As we all know static helps attract dust and dirt to a lens. Anti-static coatings work to eliminate static build up generated when wiping and cleaning the lens. This helps keep the lenses clearer and cleaner for a longer period between cleanings.
- Blue Light Reduction
- Independence® Tech also provides protection from the harmful effects of the blue light which is emitted by most of our modern technology like computer screens, smartphones, tablets, etc.

Transitions Lens Description
From the Manufacturer
These lenses are designed to quickly adapt from clear indoors to fully dark in the brightest sun, offering a distinct advantage over regular clear lenses. But Transitions lenses aren't just about clear and dark, they continuously adapt to changing light so they're always exactly the shade you need them to be.
From FEA
FEA is proud to offer Transitions photochromic technology on its lenses. Transitions is perhaps the most widely recognized photochromic technology provider in the industry. This particular choice represents their basic level of technology offering only the photochromic technology they are well known for providing. We offer other products from the Transitions line as well and more information can be found on those on their respective pages.
At FEA we offer the cutting edge in Transitions technology by offering lenses that utilize the Transitions 7 technology. This technology provides quicker reaction times during changes in light level. In addition to quicker light reaction times. Transitions 7 reacts quicker when subjected to changes in heat extremes, changing faster when cold as well as warm.

Transitions Vantage Lens Description
A variant of the basic Transitions we all recognize, Transitions Vantage provides the wearer with added benefits found only in this offering from Transitions.
In addition to providing the same basic color variability under differing light conditions, Transitions Vantage also provides the wearer with varying levels of polarization. With this added polarization technology the lenses also polarize as they darken. This helps provide the wearer with added comfort in harsh light conditions as well as added protections from the dangers of UV light.

Transitions XTRActive Lens Description
All day your eyes are bombarded by light. All day Transitions XTRActive lenses adapt to help protect your eyes from fatigue and strain caused by UV light and bright glare outdoors, and even activate behind the windshield. Indoors they have a comfortable hint of tint to shield your eyes from strain caused by harsh indoor light.
- Differences
- Transitions XTRActive lenses are a variant of the typical Transitions lenses. While still performing the same basic functions of all Photochromic lenses, namely changing colors when exposed to varying levels of light, XTRActive lenses add to this. Transitions XTRActive lenses start at a darker resting point than that found on other transitions products. This darker resting point allows the lenses to become much darker than other Transitions lines when exposed to UV light. This helps to provide increased protection and visibility in conditions with harsh levels of light.

Transitions DriveWear Lens Description
DriveWear photochromic is designed to provide the optimal driving lens, one that changes with lighting conditions from behind the windshield. In their resting state, or low light conditions, they appear as a green/yellow color which helps enhance contrast and minimizes glare. When exposed to light behind the windshield they change to a copper color which works to enhance color recognition and depth perception. When exposed to bright light outdoors these lenses change to a dark red brown color to filter out excess light and provide the wearer with comfortable vision.
In addition to providing the benefits of photochromics, DriveWear also provides the wearer with UV protection through use of NuPolar Polarization technology.
